Excavating, dredging and civil works – the Bahamas
MPS supported van Oord Dredging and Marine Contractors with supplying a versatile modular pontoon solution for a project in the Bahamas.
The multipurpose pontoon is equipped with hydraulic spud legs to stabilize the pontoon and heavy duty Roll On Roll Off ramps to ease access of an excavator and dumper trucks.
It is involved in the Sandy Bottom Project on Nassau, New Providence, which it is carrying out for the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF). The RBDF has acquired a fleet of new patrol vessels and our customer is giving their naval bases a rigorous upgrade to prepare them for the new craft. The work is spread out over three sites that are up to 700 km apart. Most of the work is taking place in Coral Harbour, on the island of New Providence. The project scope includes excavating the harbour basins, dredging the access channels, constructing the breakwaters and civil works.
