Backhoe / Dipper Barges
A high-performance backhoe dredger can be created by mounting a land-type, track-mounted or pedestal backhoe excavator on a platform made using our MPS modular pontoon system.
Two or more spuds (legs) can be fitted to stabilize the platform and hold it moored in a fixed position. Spud carriers ( ‘walking’ spud legs ) are available as an option as are for easy, short-distance repositioning.
At MPS we have years of experience with this type of dredging platforms and maintain a database holding the most common types (long reach) of excavator machines. This enables us to offer a rapid estimation for the dimensions of the modular pontoon that will be required for a specific excavator type and model.
Backhoe dredgers, also known as dipper dredgers, are frequently used for dredging works in harbours and shallow waters where they offer a simple and economical way of working.
Joint forces, efficient solutions.
