A powerful backhoe loader can be created by mounting a land-based, crawler or pedestal excavator on a platform created using our modular pontoon systems. Two or more piles (legs) can be fitted to stabilise the platform and hold it in a fixed position. Spud carriers (also known as ‘walking’ spuds) are available as an option.
At MPS, we have years of experience with this type of dredging platform, and we maintain a database of the most common types of (long reach) excavators. This enables us to quickly give an estimate of the dimensions of the modular pontoon, which are required for a certain type of excavator and the corresponding model. Backhoe dredgers, also known as dipper dredgers or pontoons, are widely used for dredging in ports and shallow waters. There they offer a simple and economical way of working.
