Port of Zadar expansion – Croatia

MPS joined forces with construction firm Zakládání Staveb  / Strabag for the expansion of the Zadar port, Croatia. MPS supplied two stabilized modular spud leg pontoons for installation of the foundations of piles.

The expansion of the ferry port of Gaženica, Zadar, is a large construction project in the Adriatic and Mediterranean Sea. The pile foundations of the port included the drilling of over 359 piles, with a total length of 6,975 m. Due to the environmental conditions, the construction has been exigent, whereby strict tolerances were allowed.

Zakládání Staveb requested MPS to supply two safe and reliable modular stabilized spud-pontoons for this operation. The modular spud-pontoons are equipped with four hydraulic stabilizing spud leg systems and four mooring winches to meet the project requirements. Moreover, the pontoons were outfitted with a pilling rig and lattice boom support crane to handle the pile casings and the concrete reinforcement elements.
